Australia have successfully qualfied for a fifth straight World Cup and will be playing at the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

The Socceroos' road to Qatar was quite bumpy with the side forced to win playoffs against the UAE and Peru to seal their spot at another World Cup.

A nation often referred to as the 'green and gold', Australia and Nike have opted to stick with those traditional colours when it comes to their new World Cups kits.

The Sporting News brings you all you need to know about the jerseys the Socceroos will be wearing in Qatar.

The Socceroos' preferred kit for the 2022 World Cup is unsurprisingly yellow but mixes things up slightly with green shorts and white socks.

According to Nike, "The design nods to the iconic Golden Wattle flower and the traditional colours of the national side, using colours of ‘University Gold’ and ‘Tour Yellow’ to capture the adventurous nature of Australians and the physical beauty of the land."

"The green shorts use the colour ‘Green Noise’ with a clear connection to nature, conjuring the rugged, sandy landscape of the outback and the rich wetlands and forests. The kit is completed with iconic white socks."

At the 2018 World Cup, Australia wore an all yellow kit with green lines on the shoulders.

The Socceroos away kit opts for a darker tone with a unique green splash under the collar.

Nike have stated that, "The bold obsidian away kit draws inspiration from the vivid sea, with splashes of green glow to help Aussies show their pride both on and off the pitch.

"It is representative of the creatures, plants, and reeds found in the waters signaling the deep connection between Australians and coastal life."

Both the home and away kits for Qatar are made with 100 per cent recycled polyester which is constructed from recycled bottles.

Despite being designated as the away side for their first two group games at the 2022 World Cup, Australia will likely still play predominantly in their home kit.

Colour clashes are unlikely with France, Tunisia or Denmark meaning the Socceroos yellow kit can be worn based on FIFA regulations.

"In principle, each team shall wear its official team kit as declared on the team colour form," FIFA's rules for the tournament read.

"If the two teams’ colours might cause confusion, the host team shall be entitled to wear its official team kit and the visiting team shall use its reserve team kit or, if necessary, a combination of the official and the reserve team kits."

Australia's World Cup kits retail at $100 for kids and $115 for adults.

They are available to buy from the Football Australia website with stock to be released physically at stores in late September.

As ever, football fans have had strong opinions about the Socceroos World Cup kits.

While most people seem to approve of the home jersey, the away strip hasn't been received so well.

The colouring and green pattern under the collar are quite unusual with supporters quick to voice their doubts about it.

Tell me that away kit is a prank

Did Stevie wonder design the away jersey?

Home kit - awesome. Away kit, wtf? It comes with a bib?
