Jaffrey Woman's Club will host a sock hop Saturday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. at American Legion Post No. 11 at 20 Webster St.

A sock hop is a dance party from the 1950s and 1960s. Typical attire for women was poodle skirts or pedal pushers and blouses with chiffon neck scarves, bobby socks and saddle shoes. Men’s outfits ranged from plaid or bowling shirts with khakis to white T-shifts with rolled-up sleeves and black leather jackets, with penny loafers or black sneakers. However, any kind of clothing is appropriate for the event.

The sock hop will feature DJ Lambert, dancing, a 50/50 raffle, photo op props, food and refreshments available for purchase.

Tickets are $15 per person, $25 per couple and $30 per family. The event is a fundraiser to help the club purchase an automated external defibrillator.
